![]() It is clear that NextPVR supports the Colossus and SchedulesDirect out of the box. So, what I am wondering is if NextPVR will give me better results with the Live TV feature in Emby with this hardware configuration. Despite its importance, development has languished, and the little attention it gets is now on at least two diverging paths without any central publicly available repository. This seems to be a consequence of the delays associated with bringing up a stream through such a complex path (i.e., capture card instead of a tuner device) and the general state of MPExtended, which has suffered greatly as a consequence of not being a part of the core MediaPortal distribution. You can read a bit more about my struggle here if you want. On Emby, which also retrieves streams from MediaPortal TV Server via MPExtended, live TV is on the verge of unusable. It works less well for scenarios where MPExtended is involved, including WebMediaPortal and the aMPdroid app. The solution works reasonably well for the native clients in both MediaPortal and Kodi. And DLNA players even better - they never transcode, and always show subtitles.I've been trying to get Live TV working in Emby for the better part of the last year and have struggled without much progress.Īt the moment, I use MediaPortal TV Server to capture the output from DirecTV set top boxes via Hauppauge Colossus cards channel changing is done via the DirecTV SHEF plugin, while EPG data comes from the SchedulesDirect EPG Client plugin. So I wanted to use Emby in the beginning, but so far Plex performs better. Plex loves to force transcode, which is in my mind an operation that should not exist, i can't see any client device that couldn't handle any H264/HEVC material. After every movie identify action, you need to restart the jail, for example. Manual updates especially causing freezes, and they are less comfortable. Plex is way way way faster in media scanning and metadata processing.Įmby plugin is constantly producing errors, and will often freeze. ![]() Plex setup is quite quick compares to Emby. Additionally, the cannot even play embedded (CC) subtitles (Emby).Įmby acts like it's more customizable, has plugins, although didn't really reap its benefits. I map media folder read-only for both Emby and Plex.īoth are great with movies, poor with Series and TV Shows, suddenly they require strict naming syntax even for folder names, they mix episodes in a wrong way, can't download pictures sometimes, and no subtitles to download at all. on right of / > (Expand root folder path on FreeNAS).Library->Add Media Library (Prompts for required fields). Now configure Emby through it web config page to add the media library for use as follows: ![]() Films path under emby jail media folder to create) ![]() Films path to dataset source accessed by a share, amend to your volume and subfolder) You need to setup storage locations under the emby_1 Jail autocreated when the plugin installed as follows: Issue - FreeNAS plugin Emby 3.2.60.0 plugin cannot see the dataset volumes created in FreeNAS. Issue - FreeNAS Emby plugin : How to setup Media I have just reinstall FreeNAS 11.1 with Emby PlugIn 3.2.60.0 and below still works! I hope I can help as 2 years ago has same issues and wrote notes on how to resolve.
